Heart of Glass
Heart of Glass was a collaborative project by Theo Macdonald and Isabella Dampney, held at Enjoy Contemporary Art Space in Wellington. It is named for the 1979 Blondie song and the 1976 Werner Herzog movie. This exhibition centred upon a simple intervention: breaking one window in the Enjoy gallery space. Through this project, Dampney and Macdonald engaged with contemporary art history in Aotearoa, news media, and ways discussion informs process in performance art.
This exhibition was accompanied by a publication collecting responsive essays, available at the following link: enjoy.org.nz/store/heart-of-glass
Dampney and Macdonald also produced a video for a cover of the aforementioned Blondie song, incorporating animation and segments of the Herzog movie.
